NOTICE OF DECREASE IN WHITE PINE COUNTY’S TAX RATES

On April 7, 2008, the Nevada Tax Commission approved an amendment to White Pine County’s Severe Financial Emergency Recovery Plan. The Recovery Plan was first adopted on December 7, 2005, and included (among other things) provisions to temporarily increase the Governmental Services Tax and the Sales and Use Tax in order to support the operating expenses and service the debt of White Pine County.

It was decided by the Nevada Tax Commission at the April 7th meeting to discontinue both the additional 1 cent levy for Governmental Services Tax, and the additional one-quarter of one percent Sales and Use Tax effective July 1, 2008. The new effective Governmental Services Tax rate will revert back to the statutory rate of 1% of the valuation of each vehicle. The new effective Sales and Use Tax rate for White Pine County will be 7 1/8% (.07125).
